Meet Red, a loving and well-behaved pup who is looking to be adopted into his forever family. This American Staffordshire Terrier mix is long overdue for a loving companion — he was at the AHS Newark Shelter for two years before being pulled out of the shelter by Heart + Soul Dog Rescue in November 2023 and put into foster care, where he has been since. Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier mix

Weight: 60 pounds

Age: Four to five years old

Ideal Home: Red would do best in a semi-active home.

Kids: 12+

Dogs: Yes — Red is very dog-friendly. He is very adaptable to each dog’s temperament, but a meet and greet is required.

Cats: Unsure — a meet and greet is required.

Crate-Trained: Yes — he loves to sit in his crate and has great manners.

Other training: Red has been professionally trained so he is 100% ready for his forever family. He has been through a six-week board and train program.

Leash Manners: Red walks very well. He loves long walks.

Personality: Red is a certified good boy. He is playful with people and other dogs and loving. He also loves to cuddle and his personality is sweet, obedient, well-behaved, and adaptable.

Why he was brought to the rescue: Red originally came into the shelter as a stray. After two years in the shelter, he still had no interest, so he was pulled out of the shelter. Red is currently in foster care.
