A classic morning routine consists of an early workout, followed by grabbing a coffee before starting the day. But now, thanks to a new spot in town, both of those things can be done simultaneously. Pilatte, a women-owned Pilates studio for women, recently opened at 35 Belden Place in Montclair with a self-serve mini coffee bar conveniently located inside. Keep reading for what we know about Pilatte, Montclair’s first women-only Pilates studio.
About Pilatte
Pilatte is a women-owned reformer and mat pilates and fitness studio. With both reformer and mat Pilates, a self-serve mini coffee bar, and being that it’s for women only, Pilatte is the first studio in Montclair of its kind.

On May 12th, Montclair residents got a teaser via Instagram about the opening of Pilatte. The location of the spot wasn’t announced until later, but it is now confirmed that the studio is located at 35 Belden Place, Unit 10 in Montclair. The studio attracted locals on Instagram pretty quickly, with already over 3,000 followers and much excitement from Montclair locals. Pilatte officially opened its doors on June 27th, 2025.
The owners told MG how the idea blossomed, “I am Muslim and my business partner is Christian. We both enjoy working out but did not feel comfortable working out freely…I have hijab cousins and friends…they would ask to uncover and it wouldn’t be possible… We realized there wasn’t a safe space specifically created for girls and those who or modest or simply do not feel comfortable.”
Pilatte is specifically catered for women only. The team behind Pilatte wanted to create an environment where all women feel safe and comfortable. To ensure this, during classes doors are locked with curtains down and there is a strict no-recording policy. The studio is also hijabi-friendly, with a station to safely hang hijabs during workouts.

Pilatte provides a variety of classes catered to all levels. The classes include mat Pilates, sculpt mat Pilates, reformer Pilates, and a HIIT class.
