This year, the Kentucky Derby falls on Saturday, May 6th — and whether you’re an equine expert or are simply in it for entertainment (no judgment), there’s nothing quite like viewing a sports event from the barstool of a local spot. To help prepare for the festivities, we rounded up a list of restaurants and bars in Montclair and around Essex County where you can view the Derby and indulge in some food and drink specials. Cloverleaf Tavern | 395 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell

Cloverleaf Tavern will be serving mint julep cocktails, broadcasting the Derby on all TVs, and offering “Derby Discounts” The discounts are as follows: all patrons at the spot for race time will receive a ticket with a number, and if that horse number comes in the top 3, they will receive a special offer.
