About the Owners

Owners Tricia Bernard , Lucia Carvalho, and Miriam Vidals are excited to bring their Bergen County salon to Montclair. While only one of the owners currently lives in the area, the trio knew that Montclair was where they wanted to be due to its welcoming community and diversity.

Tricia noted, “We wanted to open in Montclair because of its rich diversity. We love fashion and beauty, and bringing that together, we created this concept of a luxury boutique and salon. We are minority and women-owned, and two of us are new mothers.”

Salon + Shop

Haus of Hilights was designed by Vanessa Deleon of Vanessa Deleon Associates, an award-winning interior design firm that specializes in residential, commercial, and hospitality interior design, according to its website. Tricia said that they knew Vanessa was the designer for them because “she understood our vision and we love supporting women-owned businesses. The concept of a luxury salon with an entire boutique in the front is very unique.”

Tricia described the shop’s style as art deco/The Great Gatsby-era with a nod to Montclair’s style added in. She said, “The concept of a luxury salon with an entire boutique in the front is very unique.” What sets them apart from other salons in the area, according to Tricia, is that every detail was paid attention to while designing the space and formulating the business plan, down to the variety of complimentary drinks it will serve which change seasonally.

The boutique section of the salon will sell the latest fashion trends such as clothing, outerwear, jewelry, and purses. The owners hand-picked all goods and everything offered is something they would wear themselves.

Services

Haus of Hilights plans to offer luxury services such as scalp scrubs, scalp clays, makeup, and makeup and hair for brides and bridal parties. Hilights of Lyndhurst is known as a dark hair specialist salon and the same will be carried over to the new salon.

Tricia said, “We can work on any texture or color hair and give you a custom color consultation which includes which color tones look best with your skin tone. Cutting consultations include customizing which haircut suits you best depending on which face shape you have.”
