Add another healthy option to Montclair’s diverse lineup of food and drink spots. Sweetgreen — a popular salad chain that originated in Washington, D.C. — is opening on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair. The grand opening is set for this Tuesday, March 21st, 2023, just in time to bring in the new spring season. Read on for what we know about Sweetgreen’s new Montclair location.
Sweetgreen will be opening up at 460 Bloomfield Avenue, Units 1E and 1D, in downtown Montclair with a grand opening date of Tuesday, March 21st, 2023.
“Tell your friends, family, and anyone who loves convenient food that’s as healthy as it is delicious. Our doors are almost open, and we’re currently busy getting everything ready for you,” the restaurant said in a release that was sent out.
According to Northjersey.com, the grand opening of the Montclair location will kick off at 10:30AM with special events and activities. They will be serving complimentary coffee from Montclair’s Boho Cafe and organic treats from Ester’s bakery in Cranford. Bloombox of Montclair will be hosting a floral bar where patrons can make take-home flower arrangements and pose with their creations in a photo booth. In addition, per Northjersey.com, every meal sold this Tuesday will be matched with a meal donated to Toni’s Kitchen, the local non-profit that provides well over a million meals to area homeless people, food-insecure families and seniors yearly.

Sweetgreen opened up its first location in Washington, D.C. in 2007, and has since expanded to over 900 locations across the United States, with stores in 17 states. New York has the most Sweetgreen locations — over 200 — and there are currently three (soon to be four) in New Jersey. The NJ storefronts are located in Hackensack, Shrewsbury, and Jersey City — which was the first to open in the state.

Some of the highlights on the menu include a miso bowl with blackened chicken, miso root vegetables, shredded cabbage, basil, roasted almonds, shredded kale, warm wild rice, and miso sesame ginger dressing; a chicken pesto parm bowl with roasted chicken, spicy broccoli, tomatoes, shaved parmesan, za’atar breadcrumbs, warm quinoa, baby spinach, Sweetgreen hot sauce, and pesto vinaigrette; a guacamole greens salad with roasted chicken, avocado, tomatoes, red onions, shredded cabbage, tortilla chips, spring mix, chopped romaine, lime squeeze, and lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette; and a garden cobb salad with avocado, hard-boiled egg, roasted sweet potatoes, tomatoes, red onions, blue cheese, roasted almonds, spring mix, chopped romaine, and balsamic vinaigrette.
