Among Montclair’s many community-led initiatives is Montclair Bike Bus, a parent-led group dedicated to finding school bike routes and promoting road safety. For the second year, the group will be hosting the Kidical Mass bike ride event on Sunday, May 17th, which will feature cyclists of all ages participating in support of Montclair Bike Bus’ bike safety cause. About Kidical Mass
Kidical Mass is an event launched by the Montclair Bike Bus club in 2025. Montclair Bike Bus is a parent-led organization dedicated to promoting safe biking routes and road safety in Montclair. According to its website, the group is “determined to make [Montclair] roads accessible to active transportation”. Kidical Mass is held to highlight this cause, with participants cycling through Montclair’s roads in support. Last year’s event featured over 230 participants of all ages.

This year’s event will be held on Sunday, May 17th, at 10:00 AM. Cyclists will begin the ride at the intersection of Macopin Avenue and Park Street and finish at Lackawanna Station at 11:00 AM. The full list of stops is as follows:
- 10:05 AM | Macopin Avenue + Park Street
- 10:21 AM | Watchung Avenue + Park Street
- 10:29 AM | Midland Avenue + Chestnut Street
- 10:37 AM | Church Street + Trinity Place
- 10:45 AM | Gates Avenue + Orange Road
- 10:52 AM | Maple Avenue + Woodland Avenue
The Kidical Mass team encourages participants to join the ride at any stop. A visual map of the full bike route can be found on the Montclair Bike Bus’ website. After the bike ride, an after-party will be held with crafts, snacks, and bike repair services from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
